Course Development Grants
The Seattle Community College District continues to pursue a variety of grants and funding sources to offer a globalized curriculum. In the past the District has received several grants in this area, including these:
This grant in 2005 supported 14 higher education and K-12 faculty to visit Vietnam to work on individual curriculum projects. During four weeks in Vietnam, faculty visited high schools, universities, and historical and cultural sites throughout the country. Faculty revised curricula from many disciplines and also established library resources.
In 2004-05, the Seattle Community Colleges received a grant to develop an International Classroom Linkage and provide teacher training with the Colegio De Postgraduados in Texacoco, Mexico.
From 2002-04, the Seattle Community Colleges received a grant to create and revise curricula related to Asia studies. Part of the grant focused on updating Vietnamese 101-103 and creating a second-year Vietnamese course offering. From 2000-02, the Seattle Community Colleges received a grant to globalize courses in the College Transfer curricula. Both grants funded faculty development workshops, curriculum development, library resources, and coordination activities.
