Current Students

Paying for College | Tuition and Fees

The following tuition and fees are applicable to regular college credit classes at North, South and Central. SVI operates on a clock-hours schedule, so please visit SVI for details. For non-credit class costs, visit the Continuing Education sites at the colleges.

Tuition and fees are set by the Washington State Legislature and are subject to change. The Seattle Community College District reserves the right to change any of its fees or charges without notice.

Special tuition rates are available for:

  • Professional/technical and vocational students taking more than 18 credits
  • Vietnam Vets, Persian Gulf Vets, and Active Duty Military
  • High School Completion, GED prep, and Adult Basic Education
  • Senior Citizens and State Employees
  • Children of disabled firefighters or policemen

Note: For academic, social security, VA and loan grantor purposes, 12 credits or more is considered full time. Typically, a full-time student carries 15 credit hours per quarter.

19 - 25 Credits

NOTE: Students in Professional/Technical programs that require more than 18 credits per quarter (e.g., Culinary Arts) pay a reduced rate for those credits, as follows -

Resident ............... $10.20 for each credit between 19 and 25
Non-resident ........ $35.95 for each credit between 19 and 25


Mandatory Fees

  • Universal Technology Fee -- $3.00 per credit (minimum $12 to maximum $30 at North and South, maximum $54 at Central). There are some exemptions from this fee.
  • WAOL (Washington Online) Fee -- $8.00 per credit for online courses.
  • Student Activity/P.E. Fee -- $5 to 20 per quarter, varies by campus.
  • Transportation Management Fee -- $10.00 per quarter if taking 10 or more credits.
  • Student Photo ID Card -- $5.00

Other Fees

  • Computer Lab, Art Lab, Science Lab Fees (lab courses only) -- $37.90 per quarter.
  • Transcript Fee -- $3.17 per transcript
  • Some individual Professional / Technical Programs have materials or special fees.
